The three-day Qingming Festival holiday is coming. Highways will give free passage to small passenger cars during the holiday. The policy has led to an increase in self-driving tours among travel agencies in Suzhou of Jiangsu province.

The number of people booking self-driving tours has increased nearly 300 percent from the same period last year.

It is a good choice to travel to nearby places during the holiday as various flowers are in full bloom. Qiandao Lake, Dongqian Lake, Qiyun Mountain and Taihu Lake are the most popular destinations.

A total of 63 percent of tourists have booked nearby group tours during the holiday.

Prices of the tourism packages didn’t rise though the market is hot.

Industry insiders said the free passage policy will help tourists save up to 30 percent on tourism costs. Self-driving tours at this time especially are preferable for families, as the tourists can choose scenic spots, hotels and restaurants as they like.

Flowers and ancient town tours are the most popular among self-driving tours, increasing 30 percent from last year.
