One-stop vacation experience makes Taicang a new travel hotspot

Taicang has become a new popular destination for tourists from Eastern China as it offers a one-stop vacation experience at resort hotels.

The one-stop vacation experience provided by the resort hotels intends to draw tourists from metropolises nearby, such as Shanghai, who want to come close to nature and enjoy a moment of peace as they live, eat, entertain and shop in one place.

“Without the tourism resources boasted by Suzhou or Hangzhou, Taicang tries to attract city dwellers with its one-stop vacation experience based on its resort hotels,” an officer in charge of market promotion from the Taicang tourism bureau said.

Zou is an officer from Huali Phoenix Holiday Village, a resort hotel situated at the juncture of Taicang and Kunshan. She said that there haven’t been any vacant rooms in the holiday village on weekends since last month. Most tourists came from Shanghai, she added.

Far from the bustling city, Huali Phoenix Holiday Village provides tourists the romance and elegance of the beautiful lakes and rivers around it. Tourists can go angling at the waterside, pick fruits at the orchard, and savor cuisine made of vegetables and poultry cultivated in the holiday village. Other recreation facilities such as a chess and card room have also been established for tourists to fully enjoy their time at the holiday village.

“Our holiday village is just the right place for family vacation as we offer very affordable prices. A suite that could accommodate five people costs less than 400 yuan ($64.49) a day, and the cheapest standard room costs less than 200 yuan a day,” Zou said.

Many international luxury hotels, such as the Sheraton Hotel and Inter-Continental Hotel, have also established their presence in Taicang. Local hotels try to upgrade their services to satisfy the increasing tourist demands.

Visitor arrivals to Taicang have increased sharply in recent years since the one-stop eco-vacation experience was launched. In 2013, Taicang received more than 4.11 million tourists, up from 3.64 million the previous year.
