Suzhou sees first passenger peak

The first passenger flow peak in Suzhou of Jiangsu province came during the Qingming Festival holiday.

According to the Suzhou tourism administration, 2.16 million tourists visited scenic areas above the 4A level during the three-day vacation, an increase of 23.83 percent year-on-year. Income to the scenic areas reached 36.71 million yuan ($5.92 million), an increase of 35.55 percent.

Most tourists visited Suzhou for short trips. Taihu Lake Wetland Park and the Xishan Mountain Resort provided discounts on tickets and attracted many people. The tourist number visiting Shantang Street, Jiangxiang village and Dragon Pond increased 263 percent, 143 percent and 100 percent, respectively, from the previous year.
