Taicang has held the seafood and tourism festival 12 times, but even after the festival, visitors can still stroll through Liu River ancient town, appreciate orchids at Modern Agriculture Park, admire peonies at Yuan Garden, or engage in outdoor activities at Jincang Lake Park. On March 18, the China Cold Dish Contest, a major warm-up event of the food festival, was held. About 300 competitors nationwide showed off their skills, cooking delicious and creative cold dishes for the spectators.

The 2014 China Orchid Fair was held at Modern Agriculture Park. Orchid associations from 11 cities and provinces including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Beijing, Hubei and Sichuan exhibited rare varieties of orchids, attracting many tourists. The turnover of the fair exceeded 10 million yuan.

On March 28, the 2014 China Taicang Seafood Festival and Tourism Cultural Festival took place at Yuan Garden, Liu River town. This year, no grand opening ceremony was held; instead, a press conference was held by the Jiangsu Cuisine Association, Liu River town government, Taicang Commercial Bureau and Taicang Tourism Administration. Tourists from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai flooded into Taicang to taste the seafood, filling a large number of hotels and restaurants. The river's embankment, combining sea transportation culture and ocean features, became a popular scenic spot.

The 2014 China Jiangnan Peony Cultural Festival took place at Yuan Garden on April 13. Taicang Yuan Garden was honored as the best peony garden in the Jiangnan area (regions south of Yangtze River). The annual peony festival is a traditional grand event of Taicang tourism. Thanks to its geographical advantage, the Yangtze River Estuary Tourist Resort has become a good place for citizens and tourists, only a one-hour commute from Shanghai.
