A research team came to Taicang on May 13 to make a survey of the legislation needed for water resource protection of the Yangtze River.

The team inspected Taicang Port and water-source areas to research the city's management of water resources, water pollution prevention and the need for legislation. The experts focused on inspecting the utilization of riverbank resources, impact of river channel improvement on flood-control and the influence of salt tides.

Taicang has done a lot to protect the water resources of the Yangtze River, including building two reservoirs with a total area of 2,192 square meters, monitoring the water-source areas, constructing a number of wharfs to strengthen the utilization of riverbank resources and adding new dikes to enhance flood-control ability.
