The city of Taicang is taking stricter measures to guarantee the security of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) that is taking place in Shanghai.

Taicang, as a neighboring city of Shanghai, has a total of 19 entrances to the modern city. Taicang police has been focusing on the checkpoint of Wutang Lake. The checkpoint is located at the junction of Wutang Lake and New Liuhe Lake, which is connected with Kunshan and Shanghai's water areas. It has now maintained the highest security level. Since May 10, police officers have checked 167 ships to Shanghai.

Taicang has also set up special checkpoints to check suspicious people and vehicles on major highways leading to Shanghai.
