A group of journalists from domestic and international media made a trip to Suzhou on May 19.

The foreign press corps, with members from Germany, Italy, Argentina, Israel and Chile, was amazed by the embroidery workmanship and exquisite classic Chinese garden after visiting Suzhou Embroidery Institute and Huanxiu Villa.

After an overall introduction of Suzhou embroidery and a demonstration at Suzhou Embroidery Institute, the press corps was surprised by the superb workmanship.

A German journalist described the hands of Suzhou embroiderers as the most incredible thing in the world. It is the second time that Suzhou embroidery came under the spotlight of foreign media since an embroidery work of Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait was shown at Buckingham Palace at Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

As a world culture heritage site, Huanxiu Villa was also introduced to the foreign journalists, a classic Chinese garden featuring lake stones and rockeries. In front of a rock sculpture made by well-known artist Ge Liangyu, the foreign journalists put forward a series of questions to the staff.

The foreign press corps admired the wonderful natural landscape and rich local culture of Suzhou. They said with beautiful pictures and words, they would recommend Suzhou to foreign tourists and share the charm of Suzhou with the whole world.
