In recent years, Taicang has put great emphasis on museum construction to meet the growing demand for cultural products.

Currently, Taicang has 19 museums financed with investments totaling 300 million yuan ($48.57 million). With a total exhibition area of 35,000 square meters, the museums receive over 450,000 visitors each year.

Celebrity House

The Celebrity House, with an exhibition area of 2,072 square meters, features traditional classic garden style and modern architecture design.

The house displays the life stories of Taicang's 115 famous celebrities, providing a platform for citizens to learn more about the city's history and culture.

Shun Baozhai Clock and Watch Museum

The museum is a private museum focusing on collecting, studying and exhibiting clocks and watches. With an area of 760 square meters and an investment of 5.5 million yuan, the museum was officially opened to the public on April 24, 2010.

The museum has a collection of 628 clocks and watches from 16 countries and welcomes about 50,000 visitors each year from home and abroad.

Memorial Hall of Zheng He

The memorial hall was built to commemorate Chinese navigator Zheng He of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The ancient Chinese mariner traveled to the West seven times from 1405 to 1433, sailing more than 50,000 kilometers and visiting 37 countries and regions.

The hall will provide visitors with an opportunity to experience ancient marine culture.

Memorial Hall of Zhu Qizhan

The memorial hall, located in Liuhe town, is a pseudo-classic architecture rich in historical and cultural values.

Zhu is a renowned contemporary artist and fine arts educator. He is proficient in Chinese calligraphy and landscape paintings.

Gao Shixiong Art Museum

Gao Shixiong is an expert in calligraphy, seal cutting and inkpad making. The art museum mainly presents Gao's calligraphy and seal cutting work.

The museum is open for free and aims to promote Taicang's cultural industry and meet the public demand for culture.

Tiangong Sculpture and Painting Art Museum

The art museum covers a wide collection of sculptures and paintings, including Chinese modern sculptures, oil paintings, traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphies.

Comic Museum

The museum is divided into four zones, showing the development and history of comics in China and displaying works from all kinds of comics.

The museum is now a new attraction in Shaxi town. It promotes old town culture and boosts cultural tourism.
