Taicang Port's growth in container and cargo throughput from January to May took the lead across the country, hitting a record high. Its total cargo throughput reached 64.85 million tons. Ship flow also topped 4,243 ships, according to the Taicang maritime safety administration.

As a transportation hub, Taicang Port has maintained steady development in the past five months by stepping up port construction, adding shipping lines and improving port services.

In response to the increase of large shipping vessels recently, the maritime safety administration has drawn up plans to manage and monitor the large vessels.
