Xiangxi Area in Suzhou will soon open to the public as a new attractionc in Mudu. It is part of the “two hills and one town” development project, and refers to Tianping Hill, Lingyan Hill and Mudu Town in Suzhou.

Xiangxi Area, located in Mudu Ancient Town, Suzhou, is composed of 28 structures and covers a total area of 10,000 square meters. The whole structure of Xiangxi Area is built in the style of gardens with stone bridges, corridors, ancient stages and old trees. What can be seen everywhere here is the typical regional culture of Suzhou and South China.

Unlike other attractions, tourists can walk into a bookshop and relax with a cup of coffee when they get tired. It offers a beautiful scenery with the world of books at the same time. And Suzhou restaurant is a good choice for hungry tourists. Hotels, bars, shops and other entertainment are all available in Xiangxi Area.

Xiangxi’s name comes from a stream where Xi Shi and her maids were said to have showered, which flowed down to Lingyan Hill, and their fragrance coming from the stream led to Xiangxi. Xiang means fragrance in Chinese. Xiangxi is not filled with fragrance anymore, but the beautiful scenery still makes it a place worth going.

Suzhou started the two hills and one town project in 2013. It’s aimed at trying to improve the environment in Tianping Hill, Lingyan Hill and Mudu Town. Xiangxi Area used to be an empty factory, and now it has been converted to a beautiful place for people to visit.
