The 2014 National Volleyball Women's Championship opened in Taicang's sports center, Jiangsu province, on Sept 1.

More than 250 players from 15 volleyball teams around the country participated in the event, which will run until Sept 7. The seven-day championship consists of four parts, including group matches from Sept 1-3, a quarterfinal from Sept 4-5, a semifinal on Sept 6 and a final match on Sept 7.

The event is sponsored by the Chinese Volleyball Association and China Central Television (CCTV). It is co-organized by the Jiangsu Sports Bureau and Taicang government.
