A musical recital themed on Tang and Song dynasties’ literary works is planned to be held in Suzhou Culture and Arts Center on September 17, 2014, during the 2014 Jinji Lake Art Festival.

Famous artists including Pu Cunxin, Ding Jianhua, Qiao Zhen, and Xiaoxiong will attend the event and recite poetry and literary works from the Tang and Song dynasties, accompanied by symphonic music. Fang Ming, a famous Chinese artist, will be the narrator.

Works at the recital will include “Account of Yueyang Building”, “My Thatched Cottage Was Broken by the west Wind”, “On the Ah Fang Palace”, and “Chariots March”, etc. Hundreds of children will recite from initiatory textbooks during the recital.

Differing from the usual forms of poetry read against a musical background, the music this time has been created by several composers based on both the poetry and the voice of reciters to provide a better experience for the audience. Additionally, multimedia technology will make it possible to show famous ancient paintings and calligraphies on the stage.
