A promotion of flowers and planting techniques was held in Taicang Modern Agriculture scenic spot from Sept 19 to 21.

It displayed 130 house plants and invited flower experts to talk about their selection and how to take care of them.

Themed "Wish for A Beautiful Home", the activity aimed at promoting new species of flowers and new skills of flower planting, as well as enhancing floral culture.

The Chinese rose is the city flower of Taicang. More than 2,000 pots of Chinese roses in 10 varieties were exhibited during the promotion. Taicang Gelin Agricultural Science and Technology Co offered a series of advanced planting techniques to help residents enjoy the fun of growing flowers at home.

Many other flowers, such as pansies, cockscombs, flowering crabapples and zinnias, were also on show.

Flowers have long been used for the Chinese to express friendship or affection. In addition, a few well-placed blossoms can do wonders for the personality of any interior space and bring a luxurious feel to one's home.

The promotion included techniques of flower arranging, balcony plant models, house flowers, a sale of home gardening material, lectures on flower planting and flower information.

The elaborate flower arrangements revolved around the floral arts and their historic cultural importance.

The promotion exhibited 16 different balcony plant models, including potted plants, hanging plants, succulent plants and fragrant plants, which have different features, such as appreciation, environmental protection and beautification.

The home gardening material enterprises brought various flower seeds, pots, fertilizers and gardening tools. Flower experts were also invited to give lectures on the choice of house plants, ways of flower planting and how to place the plants.

In addition, many flower-related research institutes and companies attended the activity to share information about new varieties of flowers, technologies and facilities.

Riddles guessing about flowers and a selection for the top balcony plant were also held.
