The Suzhou Confucian Temple, in Jiangsu province, plans to bring back an ancient shooting arrow ritual in its East Court, at the end of October.

The ceremony consists of a shooting competition, ritual music, and a banquet, all of which go back a long way, with the contestants judged not only on whether they hit the target, but also their posture, etiquette, and win-or-lose spirit.

The event has two parts, starting with a lecture at 10:00 am, on Oct 25 and the actual shooting, at 10:00 am, Oct 26, with the lecture acquainting the public with the history of the ceremony.

The first 20 people interested in the lecture can get tickets for free from Oct 21, from the security office at the South Gate of the temple. The shooting competition is free to everyone.
