In the future, Suzhou cabs will have only two colors--- white and black. Cabs providing ordinary service will be painted white, and order-by-phone cabs will be painted black. Fifty new white taxi cabs have joined the city’s public transit project.

Suzhou currently has 4,477 cabs, and will have 4,803 cabs by the end of the year. Major taxi models providing ordinary service are Volkswagen Santana in mint green and Volkswagen Passat in golden. Order-by-phone cabs are Nissan Teana and Toyota Camry in black. The 50 new cabs include 30 Volkswagen Lavida and 20 Qoros. Another 800 cabs will be painted white by the end of October.

The new cabs will be equipped with navigation screens, surveillance cameras, information screens and running data recorders.

Suzhou cabs providing ordinary service will all be white within four to five years, and 500 new cabs will hit the road by the end of December.
