A smart parking system is under construction in Taicang, Jiangsu province, to enable drivers to get real-time information of public parking lots.

The smart system will automatically monitor the vehicle flow of parking lots and send the information to an information management system that will analyze the parking conditions. The real time parking space information will then be displayed on an LED screen near the entrance of each parking lot to facilitate drivers' search for parking spaces and save time.

The system also includes a mobile app that people can download on their mobile phones to check the parking information easily.

There are 130,000 vehicles and 125 public parking lots with 5,270 spaces in the city. The first phase construction of the system will cover 14 parking lots in the city's central area.
