An annual chrysanthemum exhibition will open in the South Garden in Taicang, Jiangsu province, on Nov 1, featuring over 20,000 pots of chrysanthemum flowers in over 100 varieties.

The South Garden was where Wang Xijue, royal consultant in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), used to appreciate plum blossoms and chrysanthemum flowers. The garden will be decorated with various chrysanthemums during the exhibition and offer a delicate fragrance and tranquil atmosphere to visitors.

A live performance of the cartoon Three Little Pigs will attract audiences during the event. The story is about three pigs that fight against a wolf. The performance will be staged from 10:00 am - 11:00 am and 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm every Saturday and Sunday from Nov 8 to 30. Performers dressed like cartoon characters will tour around the garden after the performance, and visitors will be allowed to take photos with them.

The Taicang tourism authority has posted an article that, if forwarded, offers one-yuan tickets on its official WeChat and microblog platforms. Those who forward the post will have a chance to buy a one-yuan ticket for the exhibition. The activity has launched a craze of forwarding with 30,000 hits and 1,000 reposts within five days. The tickets, however, can only be used from Nov 1-3.

In addition, from Nov 15 to 30, the first 50 visitors at the exhibition each day will be offered a free pot of chrysanthemums.

A books exchange activity for pupils will also take place in the South Garden on Nov 22. Students donating their old books will be allowed free admission before noon. They can also exchange books and make new friends.
