The city of Taicang in Jiangsu province received the title of 2014 China Outstanding Logistics City at the 11th China International Logistics Week held in Lianyungang. It was the only county-level city awarded.

It was the second prize Taicang had won in the logistics industry, apart from winning recognition as the "China Logistics City with Excellent Investment Environment" for the past three years in a row.

Over the years, the city has strived to improve logistics growth by taking advantage of its location along the Yangtze River and neighboring Shanghai. Currently, Taicang Port has 72 berths and provides 164 shipping lines. Its cargo throughput in the first three quarters reached 114 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 31.4 percent, while container throughput topped 2.17 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit), up 41.8 percent.

In addition, the city has launched a range of favorable policies to reduce operation costs for logistics enterprises. It is also speeding up the construction of two logistics centers and three logistics bases to build Taicang into a hub for logistics, trade and e-commerce businesses.
