Quan Jin Hall, also known as Shanxi Guide Hall, in Suzhou city, Jiangsu province, has officially closed and started its scheduled five-month maintenance since the end of this October. The building has not seen such extensive maintenance since 1984.

Business people from Shanxi province founded Quan Jin Hall in 1769 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), and can now be considered as an important historical site to commemorate Shanxi merchants who once traded in Suzhou. It was rebuilt in 1879 at the city’s Pingjiang Road, Gusu district.

In addition, the Suzhou Museum of Traditional Operas located inside the hall will also be closed during the maintenance period, and its reopening time will be announced to the public after the completion. [Photo/Suzhou Daily]
