Alfred Schmidt, chairman of the Hessen-China Cooperation Promotion Center, together with Zeng Deshun, Hessen representative in China, led a delegation to Taicang city, Jiangsu province, on Nov 12 to enhance bilateral cooperation. Hessen state is one of the most powerful areas in Germany.

The promotion center signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Economic Cooperation Center on Nov 10 and chose Taicang as its first partner thanks to the city's advantageous location along the Yangtze River economic belt and near Shanghai, as well as its excellent investment environment for foreign companies.

Wang Jianfeng, Party secretary of the Taicang municipal committee, explained that Taicang, a coastal city and economic powerhouse in Jiangsu province, has been a hot spot for German-owned companies. Wang voiced his wish for long-term exchange between Taicang and Germany to build Taicang as a demonstration area for Sino-German cooperation.

The Hessen-China Cooperation Promotion Center has been focusing on strengthening Sino-German cooperation in economy and culture and has reached 17 agreements with Chinese organizations. The visit to Taicang will bring new opportunities to both sides and seek cooperation on renewable energies, electric vehicles and special robots.
