Taicang city in Jiangsu province launched a public bicycle rental service on Jan 1, 2015, which proved successful over the past one month.

A total of 1,200 public bicycles are available in 56 rental spots. In the past one month, the bicycles were rented and returned for 31,263 times, with the daily usage amounting to 900 times.

The rental spots cover areas with large number of people, including Shanghai Road, Taiping Road, Renmin Road, Taicang People's Hospital and the Passenger Transport Station.

Staff members of the transport authority regularly check the conditions of rental bikes to ensure safety.
