Plum blossom festival kicks off

The 19th Taihu Lake Plum Blossom Festival unfolded on Feb 8 in the Xiangxuehai Scenic Area of Guangfu Town, Jiangsu province. The flower scenery is expected to attract droves of visitors over a one month period.

The resort officials said about 15 percent of the plum trees have come into blossom and more than half of the trees will be flowering during the Spring Festival holiday, making it the best time to enjoy the sight of the white and pink flowers.

The festival will last until Mar 20 and will feature a series of cultural activities such as a bonsai exhibition and a lantern show. It will be held in Xiangxuehai, a famous tourist attraction on the Taihu Lake.
