Venture Week to draw talent to Suzhou

The 7th Venture Week for International Elites (2015) in Suzhou will open in July to draw global talent. The three-day event, themed on attracting global talents and building a business paradise, will include a forum, an exhibition, a road show, and an entrepreneurship contest.

Over the past six years Venture Week attracted about 10,200 skilled professionals and entrepreneurs from more than 20 countries. About 70 percent had PhDs and 65 of them were selected for the Thousand Talents Program, which has been launched nationwide to attract top international talent to work on the Chinese mainland.

Those talents mainly came from nine fields, including new energy, advanced material, smart power grids, nanotechnology, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, modern equipment manufacture, software and outsourcing service, finance, and cultural innovation industry. So far they have brought in 1,760 new projects, involving 14.2 billion yuan ($2.29 billion) in registered capital.

Venture Week was initiated by the Suzhou government. According to organizers, they will also launch online activities, including an entrepreneurship contest in developed countries to spread influence.
