Having a history spanning 1,700 years, ‘China’s Town of Gourmet Mutton”, Shuangfeng town, Taicang, Jiangsu province, is more than just a supplier of excellent meat. The town has recently done bigger things that have made it even more impressive.

Two more German-funded auto parts providers settled branches in Shuangfeng town, one producing automobile door locks and the other pipe assemblies. Shuangfeng town is near Shanghai and has gained a distinctive advantage in attracting investments and generating value.

"We relocated our company from Shanghai to Shuangfeng town in 2011, the total assets at that time totaled 260 million yuan ($37.75 million). Its revenue in 2015 reached over 100 million yuan, beyond 300 million yuan last year, and this year may be as much as 400 million yuan," said Qin Qian, manager of Bozhong Gasoline Engine (Taicang) Co Ltd.

Shuangfeng town is enticing for investors for its favorable location and well-developed facilities for automotive businesses. The town’s official investment promotion department claimed 80 percent of its projects target the auto parts sector.

"There are a number of automobile centers and producers in the vicinity of Shuangfeng, including Shanghai International Automobile City in Jiading district; Qoros, Chery, Jaguar, and Land Rover stores in Changshu city; as well as quantities of German-funded car accessories firms in Taicang’s high-tech zone,” said a staff member from Komman Vehicle Component Systems Stock Co (Taicang branch). “So the town can quickly respond to clients at lower logistics costs with greatly equipped transport facilities."

Auto parts organizations in Shuangfeng have been continuously updating technologies and corporate structures, tremendously improving its cluster scales and operation. Up to now, around 40 enterprises have settled down in the auto part industrial park, with an entire investment of 2.5 billion yuan and a registered capital of 750 million yuan.

The auto parts industry features sectors of precision machinery, new materials, special steel, cutting-edge technology, high input and output, having many effects to drive the economy.

The town was said to make full use of its favorable location in the Yangtze River Delta, and push forward research, development, and production of auto components and build itself into a competitive town of auto parts. It plans to increase its auto parts corporations from 40 to 100 – specifically German-funded enterprises from 4 to 20 -- in the coming five years.

This year, Shuangfeng launched its EU-US industrial park project, covering an area of 300 mu (200,000 square meters), in order to attract more auto components manufacturers.
