E-sport, also known as electronic sports, is a new type of competitive activity where participants play multiplayer videogames in front of an audience. It is a massive market, emerging and increasingly popular in recent years. Most commonly, professional players face off in organized multiplayer video game competitions. E-sports has hundreds of millions of participants and viewers on a global scale and are expanding rapidly. The primary companies that are monetizing e-sports are the game publishers and video distribution platforms that broadcast e-sports events.

PLU Game and Entertainment Media Company is an e-sports supplier of this kind in Taicang’s Science and Education New City district. The firm sponsored the 2017 Crossfire Pro-league (CFPL) spring competition which finished recently, and was broadcasted online to the world fans in real-time, and allowed interactions through its online streaming media platform longzhu.com.

"I believe Taicang will win its status in the world e-sports industry," said Chen Chuzhu, CEO of Suzhou Chuzhu Amusement Media Co, a settled gaming organization in Taicang. He pointed out that the organization set up here because of the district’s good e-sport foundation and environment.

The Science and Education New City district has reached an agreement with Shanghai Taidu Smart Technology Co Ltd, the notable e-sports hardware and software developer, to co-build a national e-sports live broadcast center and develop a distinctive e-sports cluster in Jiangsu province.

Zhejiang Swan Capital, China’s leading contractor and service provider of featured towns, planned a fund of five billion yuan ($726.1 million) to work with the Science and Education New City district for an e-sports town in the area.

"The Science and Education New City district will facilitate collaboration with YVIEW Technology Co Ltd and the e-commerce platform adoodoo.com to boost the modern industrial system," revealed an official of the district. YVIEW Technology Co Ltd is a domestically renowned producer of wireless multimedia communications products and solutions.

The district will expand its modern service sector by increasing more emerging industries and essential projects such as interactive media, robotics, e-sports, 3-D printing, internet, and leisure economies.

And to advance the industrial chain of e-sports has been a major event for the district. Until now, 249 e-sports providers of games on PC, mobile phone platforms, program recording, broadcasting, and hosting gaming contests have set up offices here.

The district has a high speed rail station nearby, is only two minutes away from Shanghai Hongqiao district, and aimed to progress into a base for scientific innovation in the Yangtze River Delta and a global tourist resort in northern Shanghai.
