Taicang immigration inspection authorities gave the green light for a boatman to enter who had suffered severe injuries and needed to be pulled in to shore for medical help on March 24.

At 10 am, the Taicang immigration inspection station received a call asking for medical help. Officers at the station learned that a boatman on a Hong Kong ship suffered a severe head injury from an accident.

The station immediately reported the emergency to the local department in charge of COVID-19 prevention and control. They then coordinated with the local health commission, customs authorities, and emergency center to help the injured person go ashore as soon as possible.

Usually, the procedure will take a lengthy period of time, but in this case, it only took 20 minutes.

Due to timely medial aid, the injured boatman is receiving treatment at Taicang No 1 People's Hospital and is now in good condition.

On that evening, China Taicang Wailun Agency Limited Company, the agent of the Hong Kong ship, sent a letter of thanks to the Taicang immigration inspection authorities for lending a helping hand and for their flexible adaptation of entry procedures.
