The Taicang-based micro motor project of Brose, a well-known German automobile parts manufacturing company, has made significant progress.

The project is located in the Sino-German Innovation Park and received 1.5 billion yuan ($231.6 million) in investment.

The project, which was signed in February 2020, focuses on the manufacturing of electrical air conditioner compressors, brake assist electrical machinery, and window lifter motors.

The factories for the project span an area of 31,000 square meters. It is expected that 15 production assembly lines will be installed in place by the end of this year.

The assembly lines are almost fully automatic, and every eight seconds, a brake motor will be able to come off the assembly lines, said Wang Weijiao, director of the Taicang branch of Brose.

According to Wang, once the project goes into full operation, it is expected to be able to produce 13.3 million pieces of core vehicle components annually and bring in 5 billion yuan in annual production value.

Brose Group, which is the world's fourth largest vehicle supplier, was founded in Berlin in 1908. In 2014, the group set up a branch in Taicang, which is the largest Brose factory in Asia.

The Taicang branch of Brose has 27 employees, many of whom were mobilized from the Shanghai headquarters of Brose.

Wang said that the sound business climate in Taicang was the biggest reason for Brose's choice to set up operations here.

"Taicang is home to many companies that are part of the vehicle industrial chain, which has appeal to Brose," Wang explained.
