The 2021 China Fresh Water Angling All-Star Contest opened in Shuangfeng town, Taicang on May 15.

Three similar events will be held across the country. The Taicang stop attracted 300 fishing enthusiasts.

"Angling is a popular sport that is beneficial to people's physical and mental health. Taicang has hosted about 1,000 similar contests in recent years," said Gu Jiankang, the city's vice-mayor.

Shuangfeng boasts a national-level fishing center, which covers an area of nearly 26 hectares.
