Taicang makes China's top 100 list

Taicang in East China's Jiangsu province ranked seventh in a list of the top 100 counties in China.

The list was compiled by the CCID Consulting, a firm affiliated with a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, based on factors like economic strength, growth potential, residents' wellbeing, and green development.

In the first half of 2021, the city registered domestic investments worth 33.81 billion yuan ($5.22 billion), up 10.8 percent year-on-year. A total of 139 projects funded by Shanghai companies injected capitals of 10.16 billion yuan, up 248.4 percent year on year.

In the same period, the city registered foreign investments worth $1.49 billion, up 44.2 percent year-on-year. A total of 21 German companies set up shop, bringing the number of German companies in Taicang to 388.
