From January to August, the foreign trade volume of Suzhou's Taicang reached 70.8 billion yuan ($10.95 billion), up 23.2 percent year-on-year, according to the local government on Sept 30.

The growth rate of the county-level city was 11 percentage points higher than Suzhou's average.

The city's private companies and foreign companies contributed 24.2 billion yuan and 46.12 billion yuan, up 35.8 percent and 17.7 percent respectively.

Local customs authorities expect the figures to continue to rise, citing the stable recovery of industrial companies.
