Taicang-based Lianchang Special Fiber Co has been providing carpets for the expo for four consecutive years. Using a special fiber originally developed for automobiles, the weight of these carpets has been reduced by one fourth, while the surface has become softer, making them more comfortable to walk on.

Half of the materials used to make the carpets were reused from old carpets. The equivalent of 4 million plastic bottles worth of recycled fiber material was also used.

According to the Taicang government, more than 4,000 companies from over 70 countries and regions have operated in the city and over 10 of them have secured new deals during CIIE.
