The Taicang government and the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad, which is known as AHK, signed an agreement to build China's first AHK Academy on Dec 17.

According to the agreement, the academy will integrate AHK's talent training and certification system with Taicang's manufacturing and vocational training resources.

Maximilian Butek, executive director and board member of the German Chamber of Commerce in China, said the decision to set up the academy is partly due to the strong presence of German companies in Taicang.

Butek also thanked the local government for its support of German companies over the past year.

More than 400 German companies have launched projects in Taicang since 1993. In 2001, Taicang became the first Chinese city to adopt vocational education standards from Germany to train skilled workers for the manufacturing industry.

AHK focuses on trade and investment between China and Germany. It also supports the business interests of more than 2,700 members through the comprehensive services provided by its business and investment and membership platforms.

AHK is the first point of contact for German companies looking to enter the Chinese market and for Chinese companies looking to enter the German market and provides customized advice and services.
