Taicang Port sees double-digit growth in Jan-Feb throughput

The Taicang Port in Taicang, East China's Jiangsu province, handled 1.19 million TEUs of cargos in the Jan-Feb period, up 20.27 percent year-on-year, according to statistics recently released by the administration committee of the Taicang Port.

The statistics showed that the cargo throughput over the period stood at 41.65 million tons, increasing by 15.82 percent year-on-year.

Specifically, the Taicang Port handled 575,600 TEUs of cargo in February. Those cargo included 3.2 million metric tons of coal, a year-on-year growth of 10.44 percent, and 306,000 tons of oil, gas and their products, a year-on-year increase of 15.11 percent.

Officials of the management committee attributed the throughput growth of the port to the improvement of the facilities and management.
