COVID-19 prevention measures, including body temperature measurement and determining the whereabouts of personnel who arrive, are currently being implemented remotely at Taicang Port in Jiangsu's Taicang, local media reported on May 12.

To carry out these tasks remotely, Taicang Customs turned a shipping container into a checkpoint that is connected to the LTE/5G network.

"The checkpoint was put into use at the end of 2021 and has reduced the time needed for face-to-face COVID-19 prevention procedures by half," said an official at Taicang Customs. "This also reduces the risk of officers being infected and reduces the need to purchase hazmat suits."
