One hundred and forty six projects with a total investment of 130.92 billion yuan ($19.53 billion) in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, have begun construction this year, official statistics show.

The projects are related to fields including high-end equipment, advanced materials, modern logistics and trade and biomedicine.

Among them is a 3-billion-yuan factory funded by BorgWarner, a US-based automobile parts producer.

The project will focus on the research and development, production and sales of new energy vehicle power drive systems. The facility is expected to produce 1.35 million dual clutch modules and 800,000 controlling modules annually.

The cold chain logistics project of Suzhou Quaternes Holdings Co Ltd, which represents an investment of 2 billion yuan, had been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Local authorities then helped the company obtain the construction permit in June.
