Six projects in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province have been shortlisted as provincial major ones, according to an announcement by the Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission on Feb 11.

Among them, four projects are related to Taicang's pillar industries such as aerospace, biomedicine, new energy and automobile spare parts, while the other two projects are related to infrastructure facilities like the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou inter-city railway.

One industrial project is the 3.01-billion-yuan ($440.14 million) facility that is funded by German-based Schaeffler (China) Co Ltd. The facility, which will be focused on the research and development, manufacturing and after-sales services of new energy vehicles and aviation spare parts, is expected to produce 500,000 aviation bearings a year.

Another infrastructure project is the Taicang section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou inter-city railway, which will cost 10.39 billion yuan to build. The Taicang section, which measures 10.3 kilometers long, will play an important part in bolstering the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta Region, said local authorities.

The major projects will also be key to maintaining the economic growth, optimizing industrial structures, improving people's wellbeing as well as advancing the city's high-quality development.

Authorities said they will continue efforts to provide better services so that the construction and operation of the projects can begin as soon as possible.
