Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, has made remarkable achievements in upgrading its manufacturing industry in recent years.

Specifically, the city has been taking advantage of its automobile industry, which boasts automobile spare parts suppliers that are able to produce 70 percent of the parts found in a complete vehicle, to bolster its aerospace industry.

Zhao Yunsheng, the general manager of Jiangsu Dianshi Aerospace Technology Co Ltd, said that the city's complete industrial chain makes it possible that spare parts for developing small aero-engines can be available in Taicang.

He Yin, an official of the Taicang industry and information technology bureau, said that Taicang has a comparative advantage in manufacturing precision parts due to its cooperation with German enterprises over the past 30 years and that a large number of local companies are involved in the aerospace industry based on their mastery of advanced technology.

Authorities released a plan for boosting its aerospace industry in 2019, aiming to build 350 aerospace companies by 2025 that are expected to generate an annual output of 50 billion yuan ($7.24 billion).

Taicang has also been focusing on attracting more projects related to fields like key automobile spare parts, aerospace, and biomedicine to build a complete industrial chain.
