Taicang holds biomedicine development conference in Shenzhen

Authorities of Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, held a conference on biomedicine development in Shenzhen on March 9. 

The conference aimed to promote cooperation between biomedicine enterprises in Taicang and Shenzhen. 

Zhang Xueji, vice president of Shenzhen University, Shi Lei, deputy Party secretary of the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen, Li Jiangfeng, president of Shenzhen Leaguer Co Ltd, and Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, attended the conference. 

Wang said at the conference that he hopes more Shenzhen-based biomedicine enterprises establish facilities in Taicang, which has a friendly business environment and complete industrial chains. 

Shi said at the conference that he hopes to strengthen exchanges with Taicang to advance cooperation among enterprises, universities, and research institutions. 

Authorities also introduced the city's investment environment at the conference, while representatives of biomedicine enterprises from Taicang and Shenzhen conducted exchanges with one another. 

Taicang has in recent years been making efforts to bolster its biomedicine industry, focusing on biopharmacy, contract research organizations, and medical devices. 

The city is currently home to more than 400 biomedicine enterprises, which generate an annual operating revenue of 30 billion yuan ($4.35 billion).
