Twenty foreign trade enterprises based in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, attended the 133rd Canton Fair in Guangzhou, local media reported.

The fair, which started on April 15 and will run until May 5, is the first offline exhibition after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The enterprises displayed products, including carpets, household electrical appliances, auto spare parts, mechanical equipment, household items, toys, and furniture, across 44 booths at the fair.

Some of the enterprises also showcased their products at the fair's newly-added exhibition areas for intelligent manufacturing, new energy, intelligent connected vehicles, and smart life.

Jiangsu Wuyang Group Co Ltd, which has been attending the event for many years, brought its intelligent aluminum extrusion equipment to the fair for the first time, in addition to several traditional products.

A representative from Wuyang said that the fair provides opportunities to have face-to-face exchanges with his customers, which will be useful to help expand their markets in South America and Africa.

Foreign trade will be crucial to maintaining the city's steady economic growth, said local authorities.

The Canton Fair, which was held for the first time in 1957, serves as a barometer of China's foreign trade.
