Taicang secures $108.92m project

German-based Beumer Group signed an agreement to build an equipment facility in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, on June 28.

According to the agreement, the facility will be involved in the research, development and manufacturing of logistics equipment as well as equipment related to sorting and picking systems, logistics control systems, packaging systems and palletizing systems.

The facility, which will cost 100 million euros ($108.92 million) to build, is expected to generate an annual output of 1.4 billion yuan ($192.98 million) and contribute more than 50 million yuan per year in taxes.

Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, said during the signing ceremony that Taicang's partnership with Germany has been expanded to culture, education and sports areas over the past 30 years, and the city is currently home to thousands of German business people.

Wang added that authorities will continue their efforts to create a friendly business environment where Beumer can seek robust growth.

Rudolf Hausladen, CEO of Beumer Group, praised Taicang's living environment and said that Taicang's sustainability efforts provide a conducive environment for Beumer's establishment.

Founded in 1935, Beumer is a global major logistics transportation equipment manufacturer, supplying products such as bucket elevators, belt conveyors and chain conveyors.
