As of the end of June, construction had begun on all of this year's 183 major projects in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province.

The projects, which are related to fields such as high-end equipment, advanced materials, modern logistics and trade, aerospace, biomedicine and culture and tourism, will be crucial to the city's high-quality development, said local authorities.

Projects including United Automotive Electronic Systems new energy vehicle facility and the BMTS Technology manufacturing base will play a significant role in bolstering Taicang's traditional industries – high-end equipment, advanced materials and modern logistics and trade.

The 74.95-mu (4.99 hectares) Schaeffler aviation components facility, Hengdu Biological's nanospheres manufacturing base and the Foliday town tourism project are expected to inject new vitality into the city's three characteristic industries – aerospace, biomedicine and culture and tourism.

The smooth start to construction on the projects was largely due to the city's effective government services, making sure the construction of the projects could begin as soon as land use permits were received.
