Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, met with a delegation led by Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of Germany-based Schaeffler Group, on Aug 29.

Wang said during the meeting that Taicang has over the past 30 years been making efforts to strengthen cooperation with Germany and has made significant strides in economic, cultural and education exchanges.

Wang added that Taicang is currently home to nearly 500 German enterprises and has introduced Germany's dual education system and created a German-style area featuring the FC Bayern Soccer School and Rothenburg Street.

Rosenfeld noted that Taicang's high rate of greenery and large number of new energy vehicles have impressed him greatly, and that Schaeffler has been focusing on sustainable development. He expressed hope that both sides will strengthen cooperation in this field.

Established in 1946, Schaeffler is a global leader in the auto spare parts industry and established a presence in Taicang in 1995. It has set up five factories, one mold manufacturing division, one special equipment department, one dual education training center and one comprehensive service center in the city.
