The grand opening ceremony of Moog Industrial Control (Suzhou) Co was held in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province on Sept 6.

Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of the city, said at the opening ceremony that the Moog facility mainly engages in the research, production, and sale of motion control products in the fields of plastic machine manufacturing, power generation, metallurgical machinery, and aerospace and automotive testing, and is expected to give a boost to the city's aerospace industry.

Wang added that authorities will continue efforts to optimize the local business environment, including building aerospace industrial parks, providing talent apartments, and rolling out one-stop government services.

Harald Kurz, general manager of the hydraulic products and solutions division of Moog Corporation, said his company decided to establish a presence in Taicang largely due to its favorable business environment.

Founded in 1951, Moog is a world-leading manufacturer of motion control products and systems. Its service areas include aerospace and the automotive, heavy industry, energy, and medical sectors.

The 23-mu (1.53 hectares) Moog Taicang facility, which cost 800 million yuan ($109.37 million), has an annual production capacity of 700 sets of hydraulic servo products.

It is expected to achieve an annual output value of 800 million yuan and pay 100 million yuan in taxes.

This facility also serves as Moog's administrative headquarters in China and is currently Moog's only wholly-owned factory in China.
