The 2023 China-Europe (Taicang) New Energy Industry Cooperation and Exchange Conference was held in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, on Sept 23.

Pan Jiang, deputy director of the International Cooperation Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, noted at the conference that the conference was held in the city largely due to its reputation for sustainable development.

During the event, industry elites and professionals shared the latest advancements and achievements in the new energy industry, focusing on innovation cooperation in China-EU carbon neutrality, the commercial exploration and practice of "true unmanned" autonomous driving, and the exploration of fuel cell industrialization.

In addition, deals for 16 new energy projects with a combined investment of 5.25 billion yuan ($718.72 million) were inked at the conference, which will inject vitality into the city's new energy industry.

Taicang has in recent years been taking advantage of its geographical location to integrate into the Yangtze River Delta region automobile industrial chain, with the output value of its new energy vehicle industry increasing by 15.2 percent year-on-year from January to August this year.
