Thirty foreign trade enterprises from Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, attended the ongoing 134th China Import and Export Fair, or Canton Fair, in Guangzhou from Oct 15 to 19.

The companies booked 83 exhibition booths to showcase 23 types of commodities, including lighting products, general machinery and mechanical components, tools, and household items.

They have also signed prospective orders worth $45 million, a significant increase compared to the previous fair.

A representative from Taicang Yunjie Daily Necessities Co specializing in manufacturing ultrafine fiber towels, mops, and various other cleaning products, said that the fair provides an important platform for establishing connections with existing and potential customers.

Taicang held an investment promotion conference on Oct 15, outlining the city's policies about urban and industrial development and talent attraction and inviting businesses to carry out cooperation with Taicang companies in areas such as high-end equipment, advanced materials, modern trade, aerospace, biomedicine, culture and tourism.

Many upstream and downstream companies related to the city's exhibiting enterprises were present at the conference.

Investment attraction authorities also visited some major enterprises based in the Pearl River Delta region, such as Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers Co, to seek further cooperation.
