Taicang boasted a record-high sales figure of 630 million yuan ( $86.96 million ) in the "Double 11" shopping extravaganza in 2023, with the city's muscle fully revealed.

The city's e-commerce enterprises, ablaze with activity in recent days, are successfully cashing in on live-streaming commerce, setting more business areas to develop.

One shining example is Jiangsu Langbao Supply Chain Management Co Ltd. Despite the conclusion of the promotion, the company's dedicated staff continue to package products, ensuring swift deliveries of post-sale orders. Liu Yiping, the chief manager, revealed meticulous preparations dating back to September, harnessing the potential of new shopping platforms like Douyin and Xiaohongshu. This strategic approach propelled the company to achieve a remarkable sales volume exceeding 40 million yuan during the shopping festival, with an optimistic annual target of approximately 130 million yuan.

Simultaneously, the traditional e-commerce landscape is evolving, embracing emerging platforms such as Douyin and Xiaohongshu. Suzhou Beiweshierdu Food Co Ltd., a diversified food brand enterprise, is emblematic of this shift. Investing 200 million yuan in a new state-of-the-art food factory, the company is actively engaged in online and offline promotional activities. Sales during "Double 11" are poised to surpass tens of millions of yuan, with an annual target exceeding 180 million yuan—a growth of over 30 percent over last year.

The rise of live-streaming commerce, constituting 31.7 percent of the e-commerce market share during "Double 11", underscores a significant shift in consumer behavior. Responding adeptly, the city has actively encouraged this trend. Initiatives such as free e-commerce live-streaming courses aim to cultivate a new wave of professionals and foster the growth of e-commerce sales enterprises.

Looking ahead, Taicang plans to take full advantage of upcoming promotional events like the "Double 12" shopping festival, New Year's Day, and the Spring Festival to step up support for local e-commerce enterprises. The city is committed to empowering the flourishing e-commerce industry, ensuring its continued success on both regional and global stages.
