For the eighth time in a row, Taicang has once again claimed the top spot on the list of "China's Happiest County-level Cities".

The 2023 China's Happiest Cities Forum, hosted by a weekly magazine owned by  Xinhua News Agency in Chengdu, unveiled the rankings, with Taicang securing the title of one of the happiest cities in China for the 12th time in the event's 17-year history and its eighth time leading among county-level cities.

What sets Taicang apart is its dual prowess—excelling in both economic development and cultural richness. Nestled in the Yangtze River Delta region, it boasts a rich historical legacy and modern economy, consistently ranking among the nation's top counties in various indices.

Taicang's economic achievements include prominent positions in scientific and technological innovation, green development, and the establishment of industrial clusters worth billions of yuan in total. Collaborating closely with Shanghai, the city has integrated quality public services, improving the wellbeing of its residents.

Moreover, Taicang stands as a cultural hub, being the birthplace of esteemed figures and the origin of numerous cultural movements. With a focus on comprehensive education and collaboration with Germany, it has pioneered an educational approach linking school curriculum to industrial needs and has fostered a rich German-style living environment.

Beyond statistics, Taicang's allure lies in its pristine living environment, diverse tourism offerings, and a diminishing urban-rural income gap. The city's future direction emphasizes the integration of urban charm and accessible tourism.

The city's lasting performance on the happiness index is a testament to its holistic development, showcasing a harmonious blend of economic prowess and citizen satisfaction.
