The foreign trade of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, experienced a record year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent in the first nine months of this year to 565.41 billion yuan ($79.62 billion), statistics from Wuxi Customs showed.
The increase rate is 1.9 percentage points higher than the provincial average.
From January to September, the city's exports were valued at 365.69 billion yuan, up 7 percent from the previous year, while its imports were valued at 199.72 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.6 percent.

Since the beginning of this year, Wuxi's foreign trade has seen a continuous increase in momentum, achieving record highs in imports and exports. It has maintained a foreign trade of around 65 billion yuan per month since May, while in August, it exceeded 70 billion yuan, a monthly record for the year.
Although the growth rate narrowed in September, with imports and exports valued at 65.8 billion yuan, it still operated at a high level, ranking a strong second in the province in terms of scale.

In addition to the expansion of overall trade, the foreign trade structure is also being continuously optimized, with high value-added high-tech products becoming increasingly popular overseas and showing strong growth momentum. Statistical data shows that from January to September, the city's exports of high-tech products grew by 10.7 percent, accounting for 37.8 percent of its total exports.
