A parent and child pick red pitaya in Yanghuaqiao village, Chengnan street, Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on July 20. The pitaya orchard opened to the public that day, following a two-year growing period, and attracted many people interested in picking the fruit. The orchard covers an area of 10 mu (0.67 hectares) and is the first such orchard in Rugao. The orchard is expecting to see an annual revenue of 400,000 yuan ($58,151) in sales and tourism, and the pitaya there will have eight picking seasons before December, according to a director.
