A report on the economic situation of Tongzhou, Nantong in the first half of 2019 was delivered by the district government at a meeting held on July 30.

More than 200 representatives of the People’s Congress of Tongzhou district, Nantong attended the meeting. 

Ling Yi, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Tongzhou district, Nantong, gave a briefing on the overall economic and social development of Tongzhou. Embracing a high-quality development model, Tongzhou has progressed in many areas throughout the last six months. 

Tongzhou’s GDP reached 70.33 billion yuan ($10.22 billion), representing a year-on-year growth of 6.7 percent. Its general public budget revenue totaled 3.73 billion yuan, according to Ling. 

The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents grew by 8.1 percent and 8.5 percent, respectively.

Of the district’s 10 livelihood projects, four have been completed and three are nearly complete as of the end of July.

Chen Bin, chairman of the standing committee of the People's Congress of Tongzhou district, Nantong thanked the representatives of the Tongzhou District People’s Congress for their efforts to develop the local economy and expressed his hope for even better results by the end of the year.
